Want to become a Diskos member?
02/06/2020 Oil companies operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf can seek membership in the Diskos Joint venture. In addition, also non-oil companies can apply for associated membership.
Membership - Oil company
To become a member of the Diskos joint venture, an application must be sent to Diskos Management. Only oil companies pre-qualified as an operator or licensee on the NCS will be admitted as members.
Non-operating companies must agree to remain a member of Diskos for a minimum of two years in addition to the year of membership. For operating companies the obligatory membership period is three years in addition to year of membership.
Advantages:
- Members have online access to confidential partner data to which they have entitlements through licence participation, which includes seismic data, well data and monthly allocated production data
- Members have online access to all public data available in the database
- Membership of The Diskos Management Committee where you can influence decisions taken on how the database is developed, data types stored etc.
- Participation in Diskos work-groups, where data management issues are discussed and projects proposed
- The Diskos NDR can be used as a corporate data store for well and seismic data, you can reduce the need for costly internal systems for data management
- Access to spec data (once user rights to spec data has been purchased, access to data sets can be opened, as these data sets are stored in the database)
Membership costs
Members must pay a annual share of the Diskos Joint Budget set by Diskos Management Committee, appox. NOK 650 000. This fee covers all operational and software costs for Diskos membership.
In addition, variable fees for data loading og data unloading applies. Prices are available upon request.
A secure broadband connection is needed for accessing the Diskos NDR. Connectivity cost must be covered by the member, subject to agreement with the Database Operator.
Associated membership - Non-oil companies
To become an associated member of the Diskos, an application must be sent to Diskos Management. Non-oil companies such as Multi-client data companies, consultant companies, research institutes and other, can seek associated membership in Diskos.
Only companies prequalified in Achilles or Magnet JQS will be admitted as Diskos Associated Members. The obligatory membership period is three calendar years.
Advantages:
- Associated members of Diskos may use data stored in the Diskos NDR for the provision of new, innovative, value-added services, given that such value added services do not undermine the sustainable operation of the Diskos NDR
- Associated Members have online access to all public data available in the database
- Associated Members can also gain access to confidential (non-public) data if permission has been granted by the Data Owner
Membership costs
The Associated Member must pay a fixed annual fee of approx. NOK 190 000. This fee covers all operational and software costs for Diskos membership.

Associated membership - Universities and non-profit research organisations
Universities and non-profit reseach organisations can seek associated membership in Diskos and get free online access to the database if the organisation is accepted as a member.
