The University of Texas at Austin

Abstract

Is your organization maximizing the value of the decisions it makes? As a decision maker, are you presented with a range of alternatives to consider, or are you “pitched” a recommended course of action? Are your organization’s decisions based on high-quality information? Does your decision-making process account for uncertainty? Are your strategies robust and flexible? Are you faced with trying to achieve multiple and often conflicting objectives? Does your organization reward good decision-making or lucky outcomes?

These are some of the questions Prof. Eric Bickel will address during his seminar focused on maximizing value creation by making high-quality decisions. Prof. Bickel will discuss the Decision Quality framework, separate the concept of decisions and outcomes, and layout a roadmap for improving organizational decision quality.
