Webinar: Benchmarking in US Onshore: Foster competition and continuous improvement

Benchmarking_1.png

The United States has witnessed a prolific surge in drilling activity, averaging 12,000 wells annually since the advent of hydraulic fracturing technology. Initially, this technology gained traction in the Northeastern US, primarily for gas extraction, and subsequently extended to oil plays. Key to the enduring success of the industry has been the healthy competition fostered amongst various operators. Best in class operators have consistently monitored production, costs, and completion designs to secure their position as the top performers in their respective region and to apply lessons learned from one region to another.

Presenter: Allison Sandlin, Equinor, USA.

This success has been facilitated by the accessibility of publicly disclosed data and the use of benchmarking software. This presentation will feature a live demonstration of the diverse benchmarks that can be conducted using the wealth of data available in the US.

Key trends will be presented comparing the Marcellus and Haynesville plays, including:

  1. What are the lateral length trends for each play and by operator?
  2. How has production improved in each play and what is the key driver?
  3. What is the number of days for drilling and completion for each play and by operator?
  4. How can this information be utilized to estimate cost and economic benchmarking?

This presentation will also prompt a discussion on whether these benchmarking practices from the US could serve as a model for the UKCS and  NCS to replicate.
