Summary

Detecting patterns in images or so-called computer vision has made enormous progress in recent years.

In this third installement of the FORCE AI lunch and learn series we will look at some of the technical achievements in the machine learning community that have led to this progress.

We will first give an introduction to computer vision and specifically the use of deep neural networks

To facilitate a number of use cases. Participants will learn about the basic principles around deep learning-based computer vision,
and what is needed for successful applications.

In the geoscience domain, machine learning has many applications to 2d and 3d seismic data and images, such as de-noising, image enhancement and interpretation tasks. The second part of the presentation will cover applications and examples on how to leverage machine learning models to pre and post stack seismic data workflows. Covered topics will include different examples for obtaining training data, how machine learning can be used to obtain faster turnaround in processing projects, and how to make data conditioning workflows available to a wider audience though ML. Some R&D examples will also be discussed.
