Presentation at 12:00
Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is one of the most effective methods for reducing anthropogenic CO2 emissions to help meet climate goals. Combined CO2 EOR and CO2 storage are major components of the CCUS value chain which can provide energy security while reducing CO2 emissions.
However, high CO2 mobility and reservoir heterogeneity can restrict efficient CO2 EOR and CO2 storage operations. CO2 foam has been proposed as a solution to mitigate CO2 mobility challenges associated with conventional CO2 injection methods. Foam is a field proven, and laboratory verified, technique to reduce high CO2 mobility and mitigate the impacts of reservoir heterogeneities. This talk will highlight recent experimental and field pilot efforts utilizing CO2 foam in EOR and CO2 storage processes.
