Fact box 6.2 - Energy industry of tomorrow on the NCS

The KonKraft partners (see fact box 5.5) and Equinor presented new climate targets in January 2020, with offshore wind power, CCS and hydrogen as important elements (figure 6.6 [25]).

The goal is that Norway’s oil and gas industry will reduce its GHG emissions by 40 per cent in 2030 compared with 2005, and to near zero in 2050.

These ambitious targets can provide a good starting point for utilising the expertise and technological knowledge in the oil sector even further in finding new and better solutions for the climate challenge.
