21/09/2022 PGNiG Upstream Norway AS, operator of production licence 1017, has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 6608/1-1 S.

The well was drilled about 50 kilometres east of the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea and 220 kilometres northwest of Sandnessjøen.

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Pliocene reservoir rocks in the lower part of the Naust Formation.

The well did not encounter reservoir rocks at the presumed reservoir depth.

The well is dry with elevated gas readings in the Naust Formation.

Data acquisition has been carried out.

This is the first exploration well in production licence 1017, which was awarded in APA 2018.

Well 6608/1-1 S was drilled to a vertical depth of 2400 metres below sea level. The well was terminated in the Kai Formation, presumably in the Pliocene.

Water depth at the site is 490 metres. The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned.

Well 6608/1-1 S was drilled by the Deepsea Yantai drilling facility, which will now proceed to CCB Ågotnes for a stay at the shipyard.
