Dry well in the North Sea (30/4-4)
11/01/2024 Equinor’s exploration well 30/4-4 in the North Sea is dry. The well was drilled about seven kilometres north of the Martin Linge field in the North Sea and 180 kilometres west of Bergen.
The Transocean Spitsbergen rig carried out the drilling.
Equinor is the operator of production licence 043 FS. This is the first exploration well in production licence 043 FS, which was awarded in the awards in predefined areas (APA) in 2022.
Geological information
The objectiv for the well was to prove petroleum in sandstone in the Hermod Formation in the Palaeocene.
The well encountered 114 metres of Hermod sandstones with Good to very good reservoir quality.
The well is dry. wireline data has been collected.
Well 30/4-4 was drilled to a vertical depth of 2135 metres below sea level and was terminated in shale in the Sele Formation.
Water depth at the site is 128 metres. The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
