Can machine learning help highlight missed pay?

03/06/2020 The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has since 2018 contributed to a machine learning project with the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) in the UK.

The project, coordinated by the Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) in Aberdeen, has explored how the use of sophisticated digital analytic methods applied to several thousand wells can help identify missed pay zones in search of the remaining exploration potential in the North Sea.

The project and results will be presented during two webinars organised by the OGTC, on 4 June and 9 June.

The first one is more focused more on data conditioning, while the second one addresses the “missed-pay” analysis.
